Project
Community Based Infrastructure Services Sector Project, Kyrgyz Republic
Challenge
Urgent action is needed to improve the provision, access and quality of basic infrastructure services for rural communities, in order to improve living and health conditions and contribute to the alleviation of poverty.
Outputs
Formulation of a US$ 45 million package of 247 physical infrastructure subprojects, including water supply,, sanitation, sewerage, flood control and drainage facilities, and local and rural roads.  Parallel programs were developed to strengthen implementing institutions.
Impacts
The project will improve the lives of 1.5 million people in over 700 small towns and villages through improved access to basic infrastructure.
