Environmental Improvement Project
The unique and pristine island habitats face serious risks from ever increasing solid and liquid waste pollution from human activity.
Formulation of an integrated waste management strategy and investment program, including the development of waste disposal facilities. Intensive environmental and social safeguard analysis was completed in order to protect the fragile island environment.
The two islands of Rarotonga and Aitutaki now benefit from enhanced solid waste management systems, resulting in improved environmental and social protection.
